FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) Do the front wheels fit every wheelchair?

Our front wheels are suitable for almost all manual wheelchairs! We offer 4 and 5-inch wheels. If your current wheelchair uses all these wheel sizes, our wheels will fit perfectly. Do you use smaller or larger wheels? Then check if your fork has extra mounting holes to attach wheels of a different size. Additionally, the inner width of the fork is important to guarantee a good fit. The most common sizes are 40 mm and 44 mm, but other sizes, such as 35 mm, 42 mm, or 45 mm, may sometimes be required. In our online shop, you can easily specify both the wheel size and the inner width of your fork. This ensures that everything matches perfectly!

2) Are the wheels reimbursed?

Yes, our wheels qualify for full reimbursement via the maintenance budget in Flanders. This means that in many cases, you do not have to pay anything extra yourself. Would you like to take advantage of this? Please feel free to contact us and provide us with your provider's details. We will then handle the application and ensure that the reimbursement is processed correctly. This way, you don't have to worry about anything.

3) How do I measure my front wheels?

To ensure the new wheel fits perfectly, we need two important measurements of your wheelchair: The diameter of the front wheel The diameter is the total size of the wheel. The most common sizes for manual wheelchairs are 10 cm (4 inches) and 12.5 cm (5 inches). Use a tape measure or ruler to check the distance from one side of the wheel to the other, through the center. This helps us determine the correct size for your wheel. The inner measurement of the front fork The front fork is the part of the wheelchair where the wheel sits. It is essential to measure the exact inner measurement of the space between the two forks. Use a tape measure for this and measure the distance from one fork to the other at the narrowest point. Watch our video for a visual explanation of exactly how to do this. Make sure you measure accurately so we can help you optimally with a wheel that fits perfectly!

4) How do I install the wheels?

Installing new front wheels on your wheelchair is simple if you follow the right steps. Here is how to do it: 1) Remove the old wheel - Use two Allen wrenches, usually 4 mm or 5 mm, to loosen the current front wheel. - Turn both sides of the wheel counterclockwise until the wheel comes loose. - You will see a small bolt and a longer axle in which the bolt was attached. Keep these parts safe because you will need them again. 2) Install the new wheel - Take the longer axle and insert it along the outside through the correct hole in the front fork. Take the first protective cap and place it with the narrow side facing outwards; the wide side of the cap should come into contact with the wheel where the ball bearing is located. Then slide the wheel over the axle and push it against the first protective cap. Finally, take the second protective cap and slide it over the axle with the narrow side facing outwards. - Take the bolt and screw it into the axle by turning it clockwise. 3) Check that everything is securely fastened - Tighten the bolts firmly, but not too tightly to limit friction. - Test if the wheel rotates freely and smoothly without wobbling. Follow these steps carefully and you are ready to ride comfortably again!
